Community Programme


The First Community Dairy Unit at Phallewal started operations on 28th June 09, with 50 animals, 25 ladies and 5 Self Help Groups of the Women Entrepreneurs in place and has expanded to its full capacity of 450 animals, 90 ladies and 18 Self Help Groups over a period of 7 months. Whilst the Central Unit has been operational for some months, this Community Dairy Unit is a milestone in the MDVL story. The CSR team has been working with the women entrepreneurs to make this program a real success. Regular orientation and training programs with the objective to enhance awareness levels and also to promote two way communications between WEs and MDVL staff are organized for WEs by MDVL. These programs are steps to increase levels of ownership and accountability.

 
 

Weekly visits by authorities other than the CDU Management have been started to act as a medium of communication or sounding board between the WE’s and the management.

The Second Community Dairy Unit got operational at Khandoor on 10th Feb 2010 with 50 animals and 25 ladies but has now expanded to 402 animals, 162 ladies and 31 Self Help Groups of the Women Entrepreneurs. This Community Dairy Unit is another milestone in MDVL’s History.

 
 
The Third Community Dairy Unit got operational at Mukandpur on 5th Mar 2010 with 40 animals, 20 ladies and 4 Self Help Groups of the Women Entrepreneurs and has now grown to 140 animals, 133 ladies and 26 Self Help Groups. MDVL is growing at an immense pace to fulfill the social cause of rural upliftment and creation of employment and self sustainability among women in the villages.
 

The Fourth Community Dairy Unit starts at Aliwal on 20th Apr 2010 with 50 animals, 25 ladies and 5 Self Help Groups of Women Entrepreneurs. This CDU was inaugurated by Ms. Amandeep Kaur Kalkat and will go in a long way to usher the socio-economic cause of economic upliftment of the poor and rural section of the society. This CDU has also expanded to 86 ladies, 98 animals and 17 Self Help Groups in a short time span.

 

Our Objectives for Women Entrepreneurs (WE):

- To improve the economic conditions of the marginal / landless farmer families.
- To provide animal housing in scientifically designed sheds constructed by the company.
- To ensure supply of clean milk through hygienic procurement and transportation.
- To get improved yield and better returns by keeping best genetic animals.

Our Objectives for Farmer Entrepreneurs (FE):

- Better income than that generated by Wheat / Paddy.
- Better utilization of land through multiple cropping system.
- Easier farming by less use of fertilizer and machinery.
- Saving in water.
- Improvement in soil fertility
- Better utilization of Farm yard manure
- Improvement in farmer cash flow with frequent and early payment
